I recently sat in a consultation (this equates more to casual cocktails/snacks) across from an engaged couple
and was interrupted in the best way as the soon-to-be-groom said, "Ohhh, so this is not just a session.
We aren't counting down minutes or hours here..this is an experience".
What a beautiful way to express what I was trying to say all along. YES. This is hard for me to portray
unless you're sitting in front of me, but he stated it perfectly. I'm not in the business of photography; I'm
in the business of relationships - this is what drives me to continue this work. Your stories deserve to be
told and I love helping you do so.
I stumbled upon this work - never planned on being a photographer. An artist, yes. A teacher, yes.
Working with humans, yes. So I suppose it makes sense that they all mashed together in this beautiful way.
When you look at images that we create together, I want you not just to remember what you felt in those
moments, but I want those feelings to come rushing back and transport you back to that space. For me, photography is about feeling - whatever
that feeling may be. I've been asked to photograph some very intense and emotional things and what an honor to be trusted with such delicate and important matters. I've been asked to document moments filled with such joy and laughter and love - all the highs and lows of the human experience.
Because photography can be very personal, I feel like you should know a little about me. I have major ADD and for many years considered it a hinderance until my mama told me that "I just see all the beautiful things at once that other people miss". Now I see it as a superpower and truly believe that it helps me multitask in ways that aren't possible for many people. This may be apparent during our time together, so you have been warned. I don't like pickles, so you can have alllll my pickles. My drink of choice is an iced coffee, bourbon neat, a nice little vodka soda, or of course, a Cold Fashioned from Naysayer, my most favorite coffee drink of all time (only available on their summer seasonal menu). I'm that weirdo that lives in Napa and doesn't really drink wine. I want to pet all the dogs and YES, bring your dog(s) to your photo session/wedding/branding shoot, whatever. I'm allergic to horses but LOVE them and want to shoot with them always - I just will look like a super nerd with my inhaler and tears streaming down my face the whole time but it's WORTH IT EVERY TIME. I am also a real big bird nerd - not like a new "discovered birds in my 40's bird nerd", but a bird nerd since birth bird nerd - particularly birds of prey. So if birds happen to appear during our session, you can bet that I will be hopping around with glee and they will 100% be in your photos and it will be awesome. Nature is my church. Family is my favorite. Cozy couches, music of all kinds, heat pads, good food, camping, road trips, card games are among my other favorite things.
If you are interested in working with me, please take a moment to share a bit about your family, your love story, your wedding day vision, or your business photography goals here. If you have a creative vision and would like to collaborate on a project, I'd love to hear from you, too. Collaboration lights my creative fire as we all have so much we can learn from each other.
I can't wait to laugh with you and create something timeless for you to stare at forever.
Talk soon,
Lisa
